Villafranca del Bierzo celebrates the fiesta del Turista (for the Tourist) during the first weekend of August, with the foot stepping of grapes in order to get must and the Festival of Wine and of the St James Way mid-august. In the villages of Cela and Paradaseca is celabrated the typical Romería de Fombasallá on August 15th. Close to Villafranca, in Balboa, the Cattle Competition and the Artesanal Cheese Fair are taking place during the second Sunday of August.
The Grape Harvest Celebration, with a competition of decorated carts taking place the last weekend of August, and Easter, are two of the most popular festivities in Cacabelos.
Meanwhile, the prestigious and famous Medieval Diner in Carracedelo and the Festival del Mirador de la Reina, in the Monastery Carracedo are other highlights in the area.
Bembibre celebrates the Christ on September 14th and 15th with its traditional Medieval Market, a date to remember.
